Western North Carolina Attractions

The Hot Springs
The Natural Hot Springs located along the banks of the French Broad River are one of the few sources of natural hot mineral spring water on the eastern seaboard. The Cherokee Indians who once inhabited the densely forested lands discovered the natural springs years ago and used them in ritual and healing.  Early settlers to the region named the town Warm Springs after the warm pools that they found. Later, springs were discovered nearby that had an even greater temperature and thus, the town was renamed Hot Springs NC. The Natural Hot Springs are a gift from nature. Generated from heat deep within the earth, the 100+ degree waters resemble that of a Jacuzzi, and the serene mountain scenery all around creates a tranquil place to relax. Today, the waters of the Natural Hot Springs in NC are brought from their location on Spring Creek and the French Broad into Jacuzzi style hot tubs that can be drained and sanitized after each use. The tubs are built inside wooden decks found in the private outdoor area of the Hot Springs Spa. A historic place, the Hot Springs Spas in Hot Springs North Carolina have been visited by ill patients and curious folks since 1778, and today the soothing, healing mineral waters can be enjoyed by visitors to the historic Hot Springs Spa located along the banks of the French Broad. In addition to the hot mineral baths, the Hot Springs Spa also offers massage treatments.
